Hello My Dangerous Crew,

Sadly over the past week with everything that was going on in my personal life I neglected my blog’s. My deepest apologizes to you all.  Now off to rant today.  I have thought long and hard if I really wanted to attack this subject yet after reading last night that of all things, the song Kiss the Girl from Disney’s Little Mermaid was under attack.  OHHHHHHH HELL NO!!!! Music is a form of art and free speech which fall’s under the 1st amendment of the Constitution of The United States of America and let’s not even mention all the hard work these musicians do to write the lyric’s, put it to music, lay the tracks and record a song hoping it will be a major hit on the charts.  For any group of men and women to attack this right in anyway is really not going to get any reaction out of me other than anger and disgust!  Honestly we all have the right to our option but this is getting way out of control!  The ME TOO movement has turned into a bunch of bullies.   There are more important  subjects for these people to put energy into like our  homeless, cleaning up the parks, beaches, streets and so much more.

Let’s go back to 1972 The 1st attack on music that I was able to find and personally remember.  John Denver releases Rocky Mountain High. The song is one of 2 official songs of the state of Colorado.  Rocky Mountain High hit number 9 on the charts as well as the top #100 hit’s of 1973.  The song written by John Denver and Mike Taylor in 1972 was not getting much air play due to the title of the song and the lyric’s.  Many radio stations did not want to play the song because they believed it glorified drug usage. It wasn’t until John came out and explained that the HIGH in the title was a description of the peace he felt in the Rocky’s and I agree with him 100%.   I lived in Aurora, Colorado which was a small town just on the outskirt’s of Denver, Co in the 70’s, that  time in my young life I was privileged to spend time in  Evergreen, Aspen, The Garden of the Gods and many other places in the Rocky’s.   There is a very peaceful natural high you can only feel while with nature and enjoy all the wonders the Rocky Mountains have to offer.  Sadly the FCC is allowed to censor any music they feel that promote’s drug abuse by Legal ruling’s.  At the time the song was played on only a handful of country stations .   Once John explained ( which he never should have had to do in the 1st place) The song took off with massive air play and is still a very loved folk song today.

In 1985 at the side of Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider and Frank Zappa, John Denver faced the PMRC ( Parent’s Music Recourse Center) ( PMRC is a committee formed by the spouses of influential people in Washington, D.C., including who would become the future  Second Lady Tipper Gore).  Seems that Mrs Gore ( who was just a member of the panel, not the ring leader) and the other’s on her panel along with support from bands such as the Beach Boys ( whom I still love to this day) chose to shove down our throats what lyrics of songs meant and censor music to their liking.  What dirty little minds.  One song targeted was the Under the Blade by Twisted Sister which Mrs Gore claimed was about sadomasochism, bondage and rape.  WOW these people really have minds in the gutter, don’t  they?  The song was written about those in fear of going into surgery ( as we all know anyone going through any surgery must sign a waver understanding they could die in the process) Scares the hell out of me knowing I may die under the Blade!   The only sadomasochism, bondage and rape was in the small mind of Mrs Gore as Dee Snider stated to the panel in the hearings.  The Panel attempted to sway John Denver to their side, with all kinds of cool promises and was shocked when John stood with his 2 fellow musicians.    Dee Snider was awarded Music Savior of the Universe at the 1st Vegas Rocks Music Awards hosted by Las Vegas’s own Sally Steel owner of Vegas Rocks Magazine in 2010.  DEE WE NEED YOU NOW!!!!

Now we hit the 3rd time recorded in the media that Music is under attack once again by people with tiny little minds.     The ME TOO movement has chosen to target one of song’s that I have loved since I was a child, that was the start of me getting just sick to my stomach over this crap!  Baby It’s Cold Outside was and always has been a beloved song that get’s airplay over the Christmas, Hanukkah and the Holiday Season.  This is a flirty, sweet song written in 1944 by Frank Loesser  and the song blew up in 1949 when it was used in the movie Neptune’s Daughter.  Even tho this song doesn’t mention the Christmas Season, it sorta owns it due to the winter months and the temperature outside that time of year.  Yet these people are claiming it is a date rape song, I see it as a flirty little song and a very strong woman holding her ground with her suitor!  See not everyone has a filthy mind! LMAO!

During the 1940s, when Hollywood celebrities attended parties, they were expected to perform. In 1944, Loesser wrote “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” to sing with his wife, Lynn Garland, at their housewarming party in New York City at the Navarro Hotel. They sang the song to indicate to guests that it was time to leave.

Garland wrote after the first performance, “We became instant parlor room stars. We got invited to all the best parties for years on the basis of ‘Baby.’ It was our ticket to caviar and truffles. Parties were built around our being the closing act.” In 1948, after years of performing the song, Loesser sold it to MGM for the 1949 romantic comedy Neptune’s Daughter. Garland was furious: “I felt as betrayed as if I’d caught him in bed with another woman.  The song won the 1949 Academy Award for the best Original Song.   Only 8 released recordings the song had been made at that time, yet the song has been covered many time’s by such great’s as Dean Martin & Doris Day and Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.  Dean Martins Daughter Deana Martin has said she will continue to sing this flirty little song.  One radio station in Ohio has pulled Baby off the play list as not to offend anyone. Saying the song is outdated and we have to be sensitive to today’s delicate feelings.  The lyric’s don’t have a place in today’s society.  I think they got bullied!

Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer has also come under attack as a movie and song about bullying?   Yes poor little Rudolf was a outcast and picked on, yet in the end he was loved by his bullies, they became friends because of that fogy Christmas Eve his bright red nose saved the day and he was the hero of the story.  To me it says that no matter what others think of you, you have it in you to be great!!

Santa Baby and yes Kiss the Girl have made the hit list as well.  Really, most of us have seen the Disney Movie and even have it in our DVD collection, Heck my Mother and Aunt still have the VHS tapes of the movie and it sequels.  The article that was sent to me by a dear loved friend last night just knocked me off the couch and got my blood boiling.  Enough is Enough already from these small minded people.  The article claims that the song sang by cute little Sebastian is a song about not getting consent to kiss a girl?   OMG, Seriously who thinks up this stuff?  LMMFAO,  So they don’t want passion or romance?  I remember the feeling of my 1st kiss from a boy I really liked, I don’t think it would have been as WOW if he would have asked.  I think body language is a huge clue if the lady would accept a kiss or not.

There are so many other songs in other genre’s that are really blunt and full of lyric’s of rape, abuse, murder and more, yet we don’t hear any screaming and protesting or even coming to down right bullying to pull these songs from radio play, now do we?  Next thing you know they will be burning book’s, the classic’s, crying that Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet promote’s suicide , Halloween, Friday the 13th and the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise’s promote and or create serial killers and more!!!! Time to squash this attack on our music, our traditions that many still hold today!  If there is this much of a problem why not do what the soft porn pay channels do?  Play the music at a safe harbor when small ears are in bed and I guess now you can’t say keep it Disney anymore since Kiss the Girl is a possible consent issue song like Baby is a date rape song according to the small minds that want to make a name for themselves .   I think they got the idea from the PMRC and just want to have their 15 minutes of fame!   As the Great and Powerful Oz said in the movie ” Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”  I say don’t give these small little minds the time of day!!! They are not worth it.

As it goes I shall play Baby It’s Cold Outside, Santa Baby, Rudolf and Kiss the Girl on my shows and refused to be bullied by any group of people attempting to censor me!!!   Wolfman Jack, Dean Martin and Dick Clark are rolling in their graves with all this going on!!!

Please leave your comments below as I honestly want to share your thoughts with others.  I don’t care if you are for this movement to take some music off radio playlists or against it.  My blog is 100% freedom of speech so please be honest!!! I respect all options and suggestions good, bad or ugly!!!!  So please respect others as well in replying.

Much love to you all!!!  Sadly the Fox link below will not highlight to take you directly to the article, I am hoping the Tag will do that for you!!!   Deana Martin thank you for standing up and refusing to be bullied by small minded people!!!  You are a true icon!!!
